If you have recently acquired a sewing machine, congratulations and please become familiar with machine operation and practice sewing with a consistent seam allowance. I recommend the Merchant and Mills book Elementary Sewing Skills or the free Arkdefo course for visual learners.
Project Planning
I will post supporting material on Substack for to each project stage.

Paid subscribers will also:
Be able to access the live zoom chat.
Have personal email help/support.
Downloadable worksheets and other freebies.
Questions:
I am not a paid subscriber, how can I get personal help with pants fitting?
Post a photo on Instagram or Threadloop. Include your hip measurement, the size you selected and any modifications you may have made to the pattern (a photo of the pattern pieces is also recommended). Tag me (@ithacamaven) and I will respond to your post. Your account must be public.
Will the live zoom be recorded?
No, because people may be showing themselves in toiles. If we discuss a topic that would be appreciated by a wider group I will write up a summary of the discussion.
I live in the Southern Hemisphere/Different time zone to you, will the zoom sessions take place at reasonable times for me to join?
The zoom sessions will alternate with timing to cover major Global time zones. The timing is flexible and if it transpires that there is a preferred alternate time or a need for additional options we will change this.
Will this Make-Along teach me the TDCO method?
The MPWM will focus on the aspects of TDCO relevant to this particular pattern, the Shop Pant. The goal is to make the Shop Pants and wear them. Fitting is important, and also only one part of Making.
I am not interested in the style of the Make-Along project, can I substitute another pattern?
Of course, but note that this Make-Along is for people making the Shop Pants. I would like to focus solely on fitting and making this pattern for the period of the Make-Along. The #MPWM series will be making other styles of pants stay tuned, there is a vast world of pant and trouser design for us to sample!
I am very excited about this! I recently discovered the TDCO method for fitting pants this spring, and I have been watching videos on this process. It will be great to have Ruth guide me through the actual process!
I’m adding the dates to my calendar and looking forward to it !
